VG-Digital Design and Photography

Guy Jacobs grew up in Maryland, where as a child he explored hundreds of unexploited acres of Beech and White Oak forests, adjacent to his backyard. He believes that it was this surrounding that gave him the love and respect of nature, and the appreciation of the overlooked things in life, which are reflected in his photography.

Jacobs studied scientific illustration in college, at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, began his career as a scientific and technical illustrator, and later rose to the position of Director of Art & Design at several major educational publishing companies, including Holt, Rinehart & Winston, Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, Mosby and The Dryden Press. In 2000, Jacobs joined Express Scripts as a Director in Marketing and eBusiness.

Jacobs reinforced his entrepreneurial and managerial skills, by attending the Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri, where he graduated with a Masters in Business Administration in 1997.

Wherever life placed him, Jacobs continued shooting photography, working on both sides of the camera, while keeping up with modern technology. Early in life he developed photographs in professional black and white, and color darkrooms. With the advent of Photoshop and the digital camera, he progressively perfected his photographic techniques, to successfully integrate his photography and illustration skills into his professional publishing career. Wherever his travels take him, his camera is always with him.
